The Pittsburgh Steelers opened the 2026 NFL season with a 20-13 home victory over the Atlanta Falcons at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday — doing it without star cornerback Joey Porter Jr., who was a late scratch after being listed as questionable all week.
With Tua Tagovailoa also ruled out, Atlanta turned to their backup quarterback, and Pittsburgh's defense rose to the occasion without Porter — forcing turnovers and holding the Falcons to 13 points.
The Steelers improve to 1-0 and head on the road for Week 2 on September 20. Porter Jr.'s status will be monitored throughout the week.
