The Penguins have signed Ville Koivunen to an eight-year contract extension worth $32 million, locking up a key piece of the club's future.
Koivunen's extension is one of the biggest commitments Pittsburgh has made to a young forward in recent years.
The Penguins open preseason September 21 vs. Buffalo before the regular season begins September 30 at Philadelphia.
