Sophomore Mason Heintschel tied the school record with seven touchdown passes as Pitt opened the 2026 season with a dominant 59-14 win.

Sophomore Mason Heintschel threw seven touchdown passes, tying the Pitt school record, as the Panthers rolled to a 59-14 win over Miami (Ohio) in the season opener.

Heintschel finished with 453 passing yards and a 96.9 QBR. WR Cataurus Hicks led receivers with 114 yards on five catches and a touchdown. RB Justin Cook added 50 rushing yards.

Pitt is now 2-0 after following up the opener with a 12-7 defensive win over UCF on September 13.
